The Incline Village Crystal Bay Citizen Advisory Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on June 5, 2023,  in person at the Incline Village Library located at 845 Alder Avenue and via zoom. The meeting will primarily be a presentation by Heidi Hill Drum, Chief Executive Officer of the Tahoe Prosperity Center, on the Housing Roadmap prepared by the Washoe Tahoe Housing Partnership. The objective of the presentation is to receive community input on the Housing Roadmap. This meeting is so important that the Washoe County Manager and others will be in attendance to hear the input from the IVCB community. The complete agenda is available by clicking here, the Housing Roadmap is available here and the IVCB CAB presentation power point is available here.
The Housing Roadmap recommendations include that 43% of future rentals should be priced affordable for households earning under 100% Area Median Income (AMI) and 38% of ownership housing should have sales prices that are affordable for households earning between 100% and 250% AMI (defined on page 10 details on page 12). The Washoe County AMI statistics and corresponding income levels are described at page 48. This is an opportunity to provide input on the recommendations and on the needs of the IVCB workforce housing. The Housing Roadmap is based on data prior to the completion and availability of the 2020 U S census data. This outdated information may not provide accurate information related to the needs of the community.  This will be an opportunity for the community to ask Washoe County about the availability of the two proposed sites it owns which are identified at page 37 of the report as potential sites for workforce housing. Since all of the possible sites that are identified in the Housing Roadmap for workforce housing are government owned sites, community members may have information or thoughts on privately owned sites that could be considered. Additionally, community thoughts on how to effectively enforce property deed restrictions could also be useful.Â
Workforce housing is such a critical issue in IVCB, and communication of community input to the Washoe Tahoe Housing Partnership and to Washoe County will be valuable to the future of IVCB.
