Are Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU’s) the next thing to challenge our community and the Tahoe Basin? On Thursday, December 7th from 5 – 6pm via Zoom, Washoe County will be holding a Neighborhood Meeting for all of unincorporated Washoe County with proposed amendments to Washoe County Code Chapter 110 (Development Code), Article 302 Allowed Uses; Article 304 Use Classification System; Article 306 Accessory Uses & Structures; Article 312 Fabricated Housing; and Article 406 Building Placement Standards. Washoe County staff will be available to discuss the proposed amendments from 5:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. Following public input, the amendments will be discussed by the Washoe County Planning Commission. The public hearing is tentatively scheduled for the January 2, 2024 Planning Commission meeting starting at 6:00 p.m.
Washoe County will be presenting potential Development Code Amendments relating to article 302 Allowed Uses, to modify requirements for detached Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) within the unincorporated county; Article 304 Use Classification System, to update requirements for attached and detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) use types and to add a new minor Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) use type; Article 306 Accessory Uses & Structures, to updated requirements for accessory structures and Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs); Article 312 Fabricated Housing, to change the minimum size requirement for manufactured homes from 1,200 square feet to 400 square feet; and Article 406 Building Placement Standards, to add requirements for battery-charged fences.
