Many in our community have been speaking out in opposition of many of TRPA’s recent changes. Some of those changes include concerns regarding the rezoning of town centers around the basin without an environment impact study, evacuation planning for the higher density and without a traffic study. Community members have also been vocal regarding TRPA’s classification of Short Term Rentals as “residential use” thereby allowing them in all residential zones within the basin. Many believe this change has contributed to the housing crisis for basin workers, an increase in traffic within the basin, and a disruption of residential neighborhoods.
