With snow and ice covered walking paths, pedestrians in the roadways becomes a typical sight around Incline Village/Crystal Bay in the winter months. Due to the pedestrian/car incidents on Lakeshore and SR 28, we’re bringing to your attention the safest way to walk or jog along roadways.
Per NRS 484B.297, for pedestrians safety reasons, “walking along highways where sidewalks are not provided shall walk on the left side of those highways facing the approaching traffic”. With distracted drivers on the rise and dark roadways, walking with your back to oncoming traffic is very unsafe.
Also in this same NRS code it states “where sidewalks are provided, it is unlawful for any pedestrian to walk along and upon an adjacent highway”.
