In an effort to reduce the risk to the Incline Village/Crystal Bay community, Commissioner Berkbigler and County Manager Brown have been requesting the Governor grant authority to the Washoe County Commissioners to halt short term rentals during this pandemic. Attached here is the legal summary of the DA’s opinion which provides the Governors documented orders principally 003 and NRS citations relating to who handles emergencies.  The Governor put STR’s on the essential business list and the municipalities have no authority to override his decision. Taking another approach, Commissioner Berkbigler has been attempting to influence the Washoe County Health Officer, Mr. Kevin Dick to take a stand for public safety.
