Should there be sufficient verified signatures, Washoe County will be hiring the needed staff to create the ballots, find and obtain space for physical voting locations, translate the materials into the required language(s), provide ADA accommodations for voting, mail every registered voter a ballot, count the ballots and produce the results.
At the same time, Washoe County is in the midst of changing over to a new computer system to improve voter integrity and processing to begin with the primary election in June 2024. Matthew Dent is currently serving his final term ending in December of 2024 and Sara Schmitz being eligible to apply for reelection in the 2024 primary election.
The total costs are anticipated to be provided by the end of October, after the signature verification process is complete. These costs will be charged to IVGID’s General Fund; the same fund needed to pay for the costs of fixing the mounting accounting issues.
If you have concerns about the costs, signed the petition and intend to not support a recall, please request to have your name removed. Names are eligible for removal from the petitions through Monday morning, October 23rd.
